Scott E. Stevens was born and raised in Longview, Texas. Scott attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, and received his B.A. in 1991. After graduating from college, Scott attended South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. He received his J.D. in 1994. During law school, Scott worked at Vinson & Elkins in the environmental law section.
After completing law school, Scott worked at Harbour, Smith, Harris & Merritt, P.C., in Longview, Texas, where he primarily handled litigation matters for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. During that time, Scott tried over 30 jury trials to verdict, both in state and federal court.
In 2004, Scott opened his own law firm in Longview, Texas. His practice consists mainly of defending large and small corporations in a variety of litigation matters, including complex litigation matters, intellectual property matters, contract disputes, insurance claims and employment issues. Scott also continues to defend companies and individuals in personal injury actions, including product liability claims and wrongful death actions. Scott’s practice mainly consists of cases in federal court in Marshall, Tyler and Texarkana, and several matters in state court throughout East Texas and the Dallas/Ft Worth area.
Scott is licensed to practice in all state courts in Texas. He is also licensed in the following federal courts: Eastern, Western and Northern Districts of Texas; the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Scott is a member of the following organizations: State Bar of Texas; Northeast Texas Bar Association; Eastern District of Texas Bar Association; The Honorable T. John Ward American Inn of Court; Gregg County Bar Association; Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas; and College of the State Bar of Texas. Scott is also board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Scott is an associate municipal judge for the City of Longview. He also serves on the board of several organizations, including the Board of Trustees for the Trinity School of Texas, Camp Fire USA, and the TCU National Alumni Association.
Scott is married to Lainey Godsey Stevens, and is the proud parent of two children, Camp and Ella Stevens.
